If there is one thing that I need to take more advantage of, regardless of the seasonal changes, it's the beautiful Namsan mountain that is within 5 minutes walking distance from my home here in Seoul. The place has always been the number one tourist attraction in my memory, but with the recent Korean wave and the growing number of international tourists on K-drama site pilgrimages, it is truly making its way to becoming an international landmark. A typical tour would involve taking the cable car up the N Tower, where you can go even further up to the top observatory and maybe even dine in style with a view.
If you ask me though, the girl living next doors, I'd say that my favorite way to enjoy Namsan is taking a walk from the bottom up. The trail to the tower can be a little overwhelming for girls on dates looking their best in short skirts and heels, but it's the perfect spot to get a little exercise going without even realizing that time is flying. Take a partner, family or friends with you and you'll have a perfect time for some long overdue chats. Or go off on your own and you'll likely meet some furry feline friends! Depending on the day, I actually prefer being on my own as I find that taking this kind of momentary dip into nature helps me take a mental break from an average busy day in the city and brings me to my happy place. So whether you are taking your dogs out for a walk in the park or go fishing by a lake, embrace the green corners nearby you... and this is more of an advice to myself!
These are some snaps from my said trips around Namsan at various hours of the day during this past winter. With the new spring season finally kicking in, I'll definitely be bringing myself to go back more often, for the cherry blossoms' sake!
