I know what you're thinking: a post about cleansers... how exciting could that possibly be? I am totally with you because I don't think of cleansing quite as the fun bit of beauty. However, it is possibly the most important beauty topic and something that you can't neglect if you're after a clear, youthful and glowy complexion (who isn't?). So this is a post dedicated to you who are like me, and like all sorts of new and colorful different makeup products, but rarely switch up when it comes to skin care and need some new cleanser recommendations. I usually stick to what I know works but since moving to Sydney (updates coming soon!), I've ran out of my staples so I was in a mood for discovering new skin care and I definitely have some keepers.
I am always looking for effective products that will minimise my routine but give maximum benefits. I just know that if things were to get too complicated, it's less likely that I stick with it. I was looking for a morning cleanser that would also work as a daily scrub and Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser (31 AUD) is just that. Just like other products from the Origins GinZing line, this will hit you with an amazing citrus-y refreshing scent that isn't too overpowering or synthetic. Its main ingredients are ginseng and caffeine, which help to wake up the skin and reduce fatigue. What I like best is the texture -- it is slightly gooey and with very small granular scrub particles that are very gentle on the skin. When I massage my face with this, I can actually feel the blood circulation kicking back and my face looks visibly de-puffed afterwards. The nice compact happy vibrant orange packaging is an added bonus.
Although the Boscia MakeUp-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil ( 30 USD) is not a new purchase, it's an old favourite of mine that I have been savoring for weeks now. This is my third bottle and it is the best makeup cleansing product I have ever used. It is an all-in-one wonder that gets the job done no matter what I have on my face. Heavy smoky eyes, dark lipstick, waterproof mascara... this beats them all! Ever since I found this and abandoned face wipes, oil removers and cotton buds, I have absolutely no excuse not to take makeup off at the end of the day no matter how tired and lazy I am. I have been desperately needing a backup and hopefully, I'll have better luck finding it here in Australia than I did in Korea.
An interesting product that I use together with my morning cleanser is the Innisfree Blackhead Out Brush ( 10,000 KOR won). After massaging the scrub thoroughly, I use the brush on my T-zone area in circular motions to really target those blackheads. I did instantly notice that my nose looked a lot clearer and I was left with only whiteheads (if nothing at all) and the blackheads were definitely "out." I prefer this smaller brush as opposed to a bigger or electronic cleansing tools because it's gentle and easy to manoeuvre. You also can't beat the price.
Finally, a product that is Australia's very own: Perfect Potion Great Outdoors Soap (9.95 AUD). I have never heard anything about this brand but still decide to pick this up, along with a handful of other products, at QVB because the entire store and all its products all smelt too good to pass up. Besides it matching my bathroom marble pattern, I love that it has such a refreshing invigorating scent that is a mix of tea tree, lemon myrtle and eucalyptus that is inspired from the Australian outdoors. It has gotten me into a good habit of washing my hands more often, just for the smell.
And I find that to be the best thing -- when a skin care item makes you want to cleanse! Some refreshing scent, interesting texture and colors can really make the mundane work become a refreshing ritual. Because who has time for the boring stuff?
